THE END OF WORKSHIP
The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) on Bristol Street is midway through demolition to make way for a new Barratt Homes development. A former parish church of the Church of England, it was erected in 1842 and was acquired by the RCCG in 2003. This place, which was once so full of life, would have played a part in an untold number of weddings, funerals, christenings, and other events. The kind of events that create life long memories for the people involved, memories upon which lives are changed forever. To see the church torn apart piece-by-piece, its interior exposed for all to see, made me think that a little piece of those memories was being lost in the name of progress. In an attempt to help preserve that piece, I decided to document the church in its semi demolished state. Here are some of the images from the series I shot in July 2018.
